What is Reiki?
Reiki is a safe, non-invasive, hands-on healing technique using life-force energy which is channelled through the Reiki Healer into the recipient.
The Japanese word “Reiki” translates as “Universal Life-Force Energy”. Because Reiki is spiritual energy coming from Source, it has it’s own wisdom and always treats the root of problems first, working on all four of our energetic bodies in turn – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. For example, somebody presenting with low back pain may, hypothetically, be suffering on an emotional level due to, say, a relationship problem. In such a case, the gentle Reiki energy would begin to flow to that emotional issue first, before working itself through to the symptomatic low back pain. A bit like peeling away the layers of an onion!
REIKI IS NOT A RELIGION AND YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BELIEVE IN IT FOR IT TO WORK!
What happens at a Reiki healing session?
Firstly, most practitioners of Reiki have a quiet comfortable space in which to welcome you. After a case history is taken, you will lie, fully clothed, on a treatment table (or sit in a chair). A soft blanket can be provided for your comfort. All you then have to do is relax on the bed and allow the practitioner to channel healing energy using a series of hand positions on/above our body.
The most amazing aspect of Reiki healing is that you, the recipient, direct the energy where it is needed. This doesn’t happen on a conscious level, but on a soul level. This is why no two Reiki treatments are the same. You will find that if you have a series of treatments, you may well experience different sensations/results with each session.
